With Chenonceau, Chambord represents the main attraction for tourists visiting the Loire Valley. The dimensions of the castle (156 meters long and 56 high) are really impressive.
The castle is a splendid example of Renaissance architecture, surmounted by numerous towers and roof-tops, with more than 440 rooms, 365 of which are provided with fireplace. Chambord is also famous for the outer stairway in double spiral, supposedly designed by Leonardo da Vinci, where the two columns of stairs are never to cross. From the magnificent terrace one can enjoy a superb view on the park and the vast forest, with deers and wild porks living free. www.chambord.org
