Villandry castle

Built at the end of the Renaissance period, Villandry owes its fame to the marvellous italian gardens, some of the finest in France. The castle actually boasts 5 Renaissance gardens, which are placed on different levels, like the ornamental garden, with its tortuous and fascinating patterns of hedges and flower-beds; or the relaxing "water garden”, surrounded by lime-trees, or even the suggestive kitchen-garden, with vegetables, fruit trees and flowers laid down in original geometric patterns. Spring and autumn are the best seasons to capture all the charm and beauty of the landscape, but Villandry is ideal in every period of the year, as the park changes with seasons, revealing each time a different and always fascinating aspect.
